Abstract

In this paper we present simple analytical models for the performance evaluation of a single bus multiprocessor architecture with external shared resources. The main tool used in the analysis is the theory of closed queueing networks. Generalized Stochastic Petri nets and approximation techniques are also used, when needed. The performance index used in the paper to assess the multiprocessor system efficiency is the processing power, defined as the average number of processors executing in their private memory.
