Communication betweeen young children during roles' pretend play is analysed through a new theoretical background. Within the interactive-constructive framework, it integrates Bronfenbrenner ecological analysis of the microsystem (1979), contributions of Bateson (1955) regarding the concept of metacommunication and contributions of Wallon (1949) regarding the me-other differentiation processes.
