The paper describes Cluster,a proprietary distributed system product for banking application just being marketed. Cluster allows the user to build distributed applications since it provides transparent remote access to all operating system resources. Mechanisms are available to define new resources and to add a remote access system to them. Basic error recovery mechanisms are provided to set up optimal application oriented recovery strategies. Cluster is designed to exploit the low latency communication media typical of the local area networks, but it can be configured on additional very low cost communication media. Abstract

The paper describes the general architecture of Cluster, the characteristics of the underlying operating system, the communication subsystem, the remote procedure call protocol, and the distributed file system.
