This paper argues that the problem of information sharing and access control has been overlooked in the literature on office information systems. The paper reviews the relevant literature and discusses its limitations with respect to the needs of the application. An adequate model of information access control is presented and its relationship to the capability model is discussed. Hints on implementation details are given.
