The Vision 2000 family of standards which includes among other standards the “coherent pair” ISO 9001 and ISO 9004 - respectively dealing with quality management systems requirements and guidelines for performance improvements - is going to be reviewed according to ISO’s strategy Horizon 2010. The present paper, after analysing the articulated framework of the principal Management Systems models with the related informative documents and the aspects of systemic integration, gives a proposal for an ISO 9001 evolution towards an “ISO 9004-oriented quality management system” considering the progressive life quality improvement obtained through the satisfaction of customers and other stakeholders.
