The years from 2000 to 2005 for Piedmont’s industrial system were marked by the crisis of Fiat Auto, both as a company as a whole and in Turin’s Mirafiori plant. It is enough to recall the fall in market share both in Europe and in Italy, as well as the sharp reduction in production volumes and jobs at the local level in the Piedmontese plants. Faced with the situation at Fiat Auto, there was considerable concern in those years for the capacity for resistance and reaction by Turin’s components makers. In our presentation we have analysed the behaviour of medium-sized companies in the period in question. Very shortly, he components companies in our sample showed a considerable capacity of reaction.
