A recent measurement campaign that was performed in Italy aimed at gathering and analyzing psychological and psychophysiological variables in improving the fit of shoes for user satisfaction has been presented. The project was part of a project by the Ministry of Productive Activities and explores design aspects of footwear. A new sizing and dimensioning system was developed for shoes with considerations on the real variability of dimensions among the Italian population. Supplementary statistical analysis and new surveys were used to further expand the available database of foot measurements and shoe morphometrics. The success of the study will improve the comfort and well-being of shoe wearer for both work and daily use.
