Inclusive and exclusive (i.e. via the Phi resonance) K^- meson production cross sections have been measured in proton-proton reactions at T_beam = 2.85 GeV. The inclusive K^- cross section is about a factor of 20 lower than the K^+ cross sections at the same available energy above threshold. The obeserved Phi/Omega cross ection ratio is enhanced by about an order of magnitude relative to naive predictions based upon the Okubo-Zweig-Iizuka (OZI) rule. Differential cross ection results are presented which indicate significant contributions from higher partial waves in the proton-proton entrance channel.

Abstract
Inclusive and exclusive (i.e. via the Phi resonance) K^- meson production cross sections have been measured in proton-proton reactions at T_beam = 2.85 GeV. The inclusive K^- cross section is about a factor of 20 lower than the K^+ cross sections at the same available energy above threshold. The obeserved Phi/Omega cross ection ratio is enhanced by about an order of magnitude relative to naive predictions based upon the Okubo-Zweig-Iizuka (OZI) rule. Differential cross ection results are presented which indicate significant contributions from higher partial waves in the proton-proton entrance channel.File in questo prodotto:
