This book, published in theWiley–Interscience Series on Mass Spectrometry, covers the complete range of applications in which mass spectrometry (MS) has been used either to characterize common and unknown drugs illicitly used to enhance athletic performance in sport or to screen for their potential presence in biological fluids. The core matter is divided into major chapters ordered by experimental technique and/or subject of inquiry, and sub-chapters organized by specific classes of substances. There is particular emphasis on recognition of characteristic ionic fragmentation processes, activated by either electron impact (EI) or collision with an inert gas, that enable unequivocal identification of each illicit drug. An outline of the foremost challenges in doping analysis, and the unsolved puzzles facing future mass spectrometric investigation, conclude the volume.

Abstract
An outline of the foremost challenges in doping analysis, and the unsolved puzzles facing future mass spectrometric investigation, conclude the volume.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
