Thermal neutrons represent a powerful tool to quantitatively characterize artefacts composed by crystalline materials in the archaeometry field. Neutron diffraction provides information on metal alloys, these results permit to evaluate the making of the materials and hence the composition and the peculiar working process. Neutron imaging allows to determine the metal objects internal structure, to label their status of conservation and to assist restoration activities.

Abstract
