The software tool has been designed to carry out performance comparisons between different HVAC systems in residential buildings with a net internal height (floor to ceiling) lower than 4 meters. The comparison is based on the evaluation of: energy delivered to the building technical system, primary energy and CO2 emissions. The tool performa also preliminary comfort evaluations in a standard room of the simulated building, in order to assess the influence of different terminal devices on the room thermal environment. The user is required to characterize the building by inputing: heating and cooling loads (previously calculated), internal set point temperature, outdoor design temperature, net floor area, building volume and the city where the building is located. The user can then choose between different combinations of: heating/cooling generation systems, heating emissio systems, regulations and energy sources, in order to design the HVAC system. The characterization of the HVAC system is performed by means of easy pull-down menus.
