Brominated epoxy resins (BER) make part of widely employed hardening plastics wherein bromine atoms play the role of active fire-retardant additives responsible for the self-extinguishing performance. Fast pyrolysis of the epoxies hardened by phthalic anhydride have been carried out in Curie point Py-GC/MS equipment at various temperatures. PHT and epoxy monomers formed by a concerted mechanism of ester pyrolysis evaporate at 423°C. At 500°C acrolein is evolved from degradation of glycydil groups, in addition DGETBBA run into debromin ation resulting in evolution of brominated aliphatic and brominated and unbrominated phenols/bisphenols. HBr is formed only in pyrolysis at T> 590°C.

Abstract
HBr is formed only in pyrolysis at T> 590°C.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
