The purpose of this study is prove that is possible to train explosive strength in prepubescent and pubescent ages using ballistic stretching. The seven tests which were carried out on the athletes at the beginning and end of the experiment focused both on the explosive strength and joint mobility. The study was conduced on a group of karate athletes, with ages between eight and twelve years, which was divided into the experimental group (EG) and the control group (CG). The EG was trained with specific exercises of ballistic stretching during all the experimental period, the CG goes on doing standard stretching exercises. The EG showed a statistically significant improvement in 75% of the tests. The difference between EG and CG results was significant in five tests out of seven. At last we could confirm our hypothesis about the correlation between ballistic stretching and conditional capacities.
