Long experiences carried out in Italy, Cape Verde, Brazil dealt with a complex educational project for students of K-15 age. Individual participation and collaborative peer-education was stimulated, taking into account students previous spontaneous knowledge and the role of errors in learning. The geological nature of the area was explored starting with sensory perceptions and emotionally meaningful activities. Teachers involved families and communities to become aware of the risks connected to natural processes, of prevention strategies, of the role of human activities on the natural balance.
