Leonardo da Vinci and Giordano Bruno carried out an incisive representation of the force of the origin, regarding both its creative powers and its destructive effects. The field of expression of this force is nature, i.e., the living result of the unfolding of the natura naturans in the variety of the natura naturata. Within this line of thinking, a particular human being, the artistphilosopher, has the task to understand reality by means of his intellectual faculty. The artist-philosopher has to place himself actively and consciously inside the vicissitudo, sustaining its chaotic manifestations. The present article analyses also two contemporary artists who tried to translate the destructive power of the origin into their works: Lorenzo Alessandri and David LaChapelle. The main difference in comparison to Leonardo and Bruno lies in a ludic mediation permeating their paintings and photographs. This mediation yields a decomposition which weakens the perception of said destructive power.

Abstract
This mediation yields a decomposition which weakens the perception of said destructive power.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
