The first results of a research project focused on the archaeometrical and multianalytical study on whitish decorations applied on metallic ornaments referable to the Golasecca Culture are presented here. The related outcomes will hopefully provide a better understanding of the ancient technologies, as well as help in defining the cultural relationships existing among European ancient cultures. The development and application of a non (or micro-) destructive analytical approach – including Infra-Red and Raman Spectroscopy, X-ray Diffraction and Scanning Electron Microscopy – proved to be very useful in characterizing these materials, generally attributed to the presence of degraded red coral.

Abstract
The first results of a research project focused on the archaeometrical and multianalytical study on whitish decorations applied on metallic ornaments referable to the Golasecca Culture are presented here. The related outcomes will hopefully provide a better understanding of the ancient technologies, as well as help in defining the cultural relationships existing among European ancient cultures. The development and application of a non (or micro-) destructive analytical approach – including Infra-Red and Raman Spectroscopy, X-ray Diffraction and Scanning Electron Microscopy – proved to be very useful in characterizing these materials, generally attributed to the presence of degraded red coral.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
