Towards agricultural and forestry management in line with the ecological transition of Alpine areas

During the 2023-24 mandate, the working group's activities focused on crucial aspects for maintaining the vitality of Alpine communities, which require acceptable working and living conditions comparable to those in more populated areas. The focus of the activities reported here was on the following topics: 1. the depopulation of many Alpine areas, which is leading to the abandonment of agricultural and forestry activities, an analysis of the causes and possible countermeasures; 2. the importance of innovating production and management processes in agricultural and forestry contexts, both at the private corporate level and at the supra-corporate (public) level for forestry management of more or less extensive areas; 3. underscoring the multifunctional role that mountain agriculture and forestry play, which is unique and completely irreplaceable with other economic activities present in Alpine contexts (hospitality, tourism and wellness, crafts).
