This study contributes to the discourse on AI in education and argues for structured training programs to optimize the benefits of AI while preserving human oversight. This study explores the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into teacher training through experiments with lower and upper secondary school teachers. Using digital storytelling, controlled writing and conceptual mapping, the potential of AI to support inclusive education is explored. A mixed methods approach shows that while AI can generate adaptable materials, teacher mediation remains essential. The findings emphasize the need for structured training to foster critical skills that enable effective and responsible integration of AI while maintaining human oversight in the educational context.
