Our findings suggest a link between GER (gastroesophageal reflux) characteristics, gastroactivity and symptoms. Acid reflux events were more frequent in infants with excessive crying and a longer gastric emptying total time was observed in the patients with apnoea. The presence of these two symptoms during treatment with histamine H2 antagonist and prokinetic agents in GER infants should be considered.
