This work analyzes the characteristics of systems defined as Mobile & Wireless through the experience gained by a business operating in the produce sector in the Piedmont area in Italy. The context in which these technologies were applied is very broad and covers diverse production contexts. Solutions of a wireless nature are utilized in the food sector to manage the production process, especially with respect to the traceability system within the business itself. European Union regulations on the subject of food safety, in fact, require obligatory traceability for each foodstuff placed on the market; this necessarily means an increased awareness and attention on the part of the businesses in transmitting all the information required to consumers. The type of technology implemented depends on the type of production process being used and on the objectives that each individual business aims to reach in terms of food safety.
