The work presents an update on the recent legislation about the design and use of structural wood, with particular reference to the chestnut sawntimber and trusses, which in Italy are widely diffuse in carpentry. The peculiarities of solid wood assortments are highlighted together with the results obtained from a series of initiatives supporting the CE marking and the perspectives for the manufactures involved in this sector.
