We investigated methodological aspects of the Austropotamobius pallipes complex survey conducted in Piedmont, Italy, with the use of mark-recapture. The results show that the method is a valid tool for estimating the size of crayfish populations and inferring their temporal trends.

Abstract

We investigated methodological aspects of the Austropotamobius pallipes complex survey conducted in Piedmont, Italy, with the use of mark-recapture. The results show that the method is a valid tool for estimating the size of crayfish populations and inferring their temporal trends.
