The increasing integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) algorithms and systems in education is a noticeable trend. It is imperative to emphasize the need to educate students about the deliberate and effective use of AI and its associated challenges. However, prior to this, it is crucial to equip teachers with the requisite skills to integrate these technologies into the classroom, enhancing stu-dents’ learning experiences. The training program should encompass theoretical knowledge and practical guidance, enabling teachers to design AI-related educational activities and prepare for its integration. This article presents research conducted in Italy to investigate educators’ attitudes towards AI in education. The analysis of responses to a nationwide questionnaire aims to uncover the relationship between teachers from all academic levels and AI. The findings reveal that while teachers express a need for greater confidence in their AI skills, they are not excessively concerned about the increasing prevalence of AI across different levels of education. Additionally, the results indicate that AI has had a limited presence in the instructional practices of Italian teachers despite their urgent requirement for AI training.
