The present work was carried out in 2006 in a commercial orchard of Hayward. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of auxin 3,5,6-trichloro-2-pyridyloxyacetic acid (3,5,6-TPA) on kiwifruit quality at harvest and during postharvest storage period. Synthetic auxin treatment was applied during fruit growth period at concentration recommended by the productors. The control did not have any treatment. Fruit were harvested at commercial maturity and weighed immediately. Than were cold stored at 0°C under two different storage conditions: Normal Atmosphere for 7 weeks and Controlled Atmosphere (0°C; 2% O2; 4% CO2) for 4 months. At harvest and weekly during post-harvest storage, fruit weigh loss, dry matter, total soluble solids content (SSC), firmness and titratable acidity (TA) were determined. At harvest treated fruits showed fresh weight values higher than control ones. During storage period in normal and controlled atmosphere treated fruits showed flesh firmness values and solid soluble content values lower than control ones.

Synthetic auxin treatment was applied during fruit growth period at concentration recommended by the productors. The control did not have any treatment. At harvest treated fruits showed fresh weight values higher than control ones.
